Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Smart Grid experience within the Utilities Industry, preferably Transmission and Distribution and/or Retail business units.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous consulting experience with a large professional services organization; revenue responsibility for a group.
  • Direct experience in integration of smart metering and smart grid solutions with Transmission & Distribution operations and engineering applications (e.g., Outage Management, GIS) and back office systems (e.g., CIS, HR, Finance,Web Portals).
  • Experience with Smart Grid (DMS/EMS/OMS, AMI, MDM, MDMS, DSM).
  • CISSP certification and work in the implementation of security strategies for Utilities.
  • Basic knowledge Smart Grid Key Industry/Technical Standards and Working Groups, e.g., IEC, ANSI, IEEE, AMI-SEC, NIST Smart Grid Interoperability, Open-Smart Grid, OpenHAN; understanding of utility regulatory environment (Federal or State).

 

  • Electric Distribution Operations Applications Knowledge – Basic Business/Process understanding of Outage Management Systems, Work Management Systems, Mobile Workforce Management, GIS, Asset Management.   Also, EMS, in the Transmission business.

 

  • Network Communications for Smart Metering / Smart Grid Solutions – Understanding of LAN, NAN, WAN and backhaul communications, both wired and wireless.
  • NOC Design and Deployment; understanding of FCAPS and eTOM methodologies; understanding of ITIL framework.

 

  • Good Facilitation – Ability to develop and conduct up to half-day sessions with a diverse group of stakeholders (up to 8) with strong, differing viewpoints to accelerate solution development for difficult problems.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to address strategic components of Utilities Industry strategy for both regulated and non-regulated companies; demonstrated ability to lead client and consulting teams through strategic analysis.
  • Contribution to the development of detailed Business Cases, with emphasis on knowledge of associated operational and leveraged technologies costs and benefits.
  • Travel may be up to 100%, Monday through Friday.
